Makati Magic

I was in Makati today. I won't tell you why I was there though.

I've worked in Makati before... uh, three years ago. Walking in the sidewalks as I hurry to my destination building in Ayala Ave, I got a bit noastalgic. Then I got a bit nauseated.

It amazes me how there seems to be some magic in that place. I just watched Spiderwick last night and somehow these two are connected.

For those who have watched the movie, remember the toadstool circle of protection? It's like Makati has that too. When you're inside the circle (in this case, when you go turn right from edsa), you're safe... as if there are no worries in the world. People go to work, dressed in fancy clothes, eating fancy food, talking fancy. It's as if they are in a new place where they are unaware and unaffected of the problems of their lives and the problems of this world. Once they start packing up to go home after their 8 hour work shift - they step out of the toad stool (for some they may get in the bus to go home, for some it may be dragging their tired bodies in their cars and driving themselves home). Once they step out of the toadstool circle of protection- they go back to reality... back to their personal problems, back to the goblins, and chaotic life.

Oooh ... to much Spiderwick.

* I liked the movie. The effects are nice and just right and the storyline is intact and visible. (unlike the Golden compass... boohoo)
